Former STEM teacher Erin Christian will be hosting a poetry slam for all!
For our other activity, guests can watch Inside Out in the Chill Room! Snacks will be served.
Poetry Slam is performance art for anyone with strength of heart whose voices can’t be silenced. Slam poets evoke emotion and the power of everyday language and delivery with their enthusiasm and voice, versus more formal or academic poetry techniques.
The poem may NOT include sexist, racist, homophobic, or transphobic comments. Basically, use your common sense and leave your hate at the gate. However anger, upset and frustration are totally legit emotions to express in your poem, just be creative in how you go about doing it.
Inside Out Movie~
Riley is a happy, hockey-loving 11-year-old Midwestern girl, but her world turns upside-down when she and her parents move to San Francisco. Riley’s emotions — led by Joy — try to guide her through this difficult, life-changing event. However, the stress of the move brings Sadness to the forefront. When Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind, the only emotions left in Headquarters are Anger, Fear and Disgust.
